Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Williamsburg is dedicated to the positive growth and development of the holistic child through offering unique one-to-one relationships in which a volunteer provides guidance and friendship to a child living in an “at-risk” environment. Oftentimes people think that it is an issue of delinquency or less than supportive parents, this is far from the truth. Our relationships are based in the mutual care and concern, of the parents, caregivers, school personnel and Agency, for the healthy development of a child who is need of an outside adult relationship to teach, nurture and support them through the challenges of adolescent development. We believe, and studies reinforce, that a positive association with a man or woman is most influential in helping a child become a happy, responsible, contributing member to society. The staff stands ready at all times to assist in strengthening the friendship between the Big and the Little so that, working together; a child’s life is enriched.
